Manila Mayor Lacuna on Isko’s projected landslide win: I’m not surprised
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor and reelectionist Honey Lacuna on Tuesday said she is not surprised with the recent survey which projected a landslide victory in the 2025 midterm elections for former mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso,
An Octa Research survey last July showed that Domagoso would corner 86 percent of the votes for mayor and Lacuna only eight percent.
Manila’s first-ever female mayor attributed this to Domagoso’s prominence as a national figure and his good social media presence.
“Well, I’m not surprised. You know Isko is already a national figure. He has run for a national position already two times: first for a senatorial seat and then most recently for the presidency,” Lacuna said over ANC.
Following his unsuccessful Senate bid in 2016, which ended in 16th place, Domagoso was elected Manila mayor in 2019 with Lacuna as his running mate.

Lacuna said that she had continued Domagoso’s infrastructure projects as she also kicked off similar projects like building more classrooms and healthcare facilities.
Still, the mayor noted that she mainly focused on social amelioration projects like distributing aid.
She also said she has received awards and recognition for good governance but lamented the lack of publicity and social media presence of her office.
“We do it the old fashioned way,” Lacuna said.
“Unfortunately, doon po kami kulang. It’s lacking of advertising for what we do in the city, na alam na alam natin na napakagaling ng former mayor d’yan (the former mayor is good at that),” she added.
