MANILA, Philippines — The registration of social media accounts for the digital campaign of those running in the 2025 elections will end on December 13, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia said in an ambush interview on Thursday.

According to Garcia, the poll body has not received any registration so far.

“I think the reason why they have not registered yet is because there is no final list of candidates yet. However, all candidates, political parties, and campaign staff only have until December 13 to register their social media accounts,” Garcia said in an ambush interview.

“It is considered as heeding the regulation released regarding AI, deepfakes, softfakes, and social media. There is nothing wrong with registering,” he said.

He added that Commissioner Nelson Celis — who is in charge of the Task Force Katotohanan, Katapatan at Katarungan (KKK) — already met with Google, Tiktok, and Meta officials to start their coordination on strict monitoring of the digital election campaigns of the 2025 election aspirants.
