Ex-Albay gov withdraws from gubernatorial race, endorses Rosal for 2025
LEGAZPI CITY — Suspended Albay Gov. Grex Lagman announced on Thursday that he was withdrawing from the 2025 gubernatorial race to support former governor Noel Rosal, effectively setting the stage for a head-to-head battle with incumbent 2nd District Representative Joey Salceda.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagman urged his supporters to unite behind Rosal, stressing the need to safeguard Albay from leaders “who exploit their positions for personal benefit.”
“By stepping down, I’ve asked all my leaders and supporters to back Rosal. We need to unite to protect Albay from politicians who use power for personal gain,” Lagman declared.
