MANILA, Philippines — The two Chinese vessels previously monitored off Pangasinan have now exited the Philippine exclusive economic zone (EEZ), according to a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) report on Tuesday.
The PCG spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Commodore Jay Tarriela, said BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) closely shadowed Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessels 3301 and 3104 until they exited the area.

“Throughout this operation, the Chinese vessels were radio challenged, highlighting their absence of legal authority to patrol the area as stipulated by the Philippine Maritime Zones Act, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and the 2016 Arbitral Award,” Tarriela said.

On Sunday, the PCG dispatched two of its vessels to address the illegal presence of the said CCG ships.
The PCG Island aircraft was likewise dispatched, and radio challenged the Chinese vessels.
Beijing continued its aggression because it claimed sovereignty over almost the entire South China Sea, including most of the West Philippine Sea, as it continued to reject the 2016 arbitral ruling that effectively dismissed its claims and ruled in favor of Manila.
