648 gun ban violators logged so far – PNP

MANILA, Philippines — More than three weeks after the start of the gun ban period for the 2025 elections, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has logged 648 gun ban violators so far.
In a data released by Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia to the media, the recent PNP election-related monitoring was tallied as of Tuesday, February 4 at 6 p.m.

The PNP has so far arrested 605 civilians, 22 security guards, six Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel, four foreign nationals, one PNP personnel, three other law enforcement authorities, one elected government official, one appointed government official, among others.

Article continues after this advertisementThe data also showed that most gun ban violators came from Metro Manila with 190 cases followed by Central Luzon with 118, Central Visayas with 77, and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) with 52.

The imposition of a gun ban is aimed at ensuring peace and order, as the government believes it could lessen gun-related violence during the upcoming midterm polls.
