MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte opted to send a written message at Thursday’s Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial proclamation rally at Club Filipino in San Juan City.

PDP-Laban is the political party chaired by the vice president’s father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I trust that it is within the power of the people to change the current way our country is run by voting for the people who deserve it, who are honest, and who work hard for the nation,” Duterte said in Filipino in her message.

The vice president also endorsed the PDP senatorial slate, which is composed of the following:

  • Sen. Bato dela Rosa
  • Sen. Christopher Go
  • actor Philip Salvador
  • ex-presidential adviser for Northern Luzon Raul Lambino
  • former Interior Undersecretary Jayvee Hinlo
  • musician and lawyer Jimmy Bondoc
  • SAGIP party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta
  • detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy

Duterte’s sister, Kitty, posted photos on social media on Wednesday, showing her and the vice president in Japan.

However, the Office of the Vice President has yet to confirm whether Kitty’s posts were in real-time or if these were previous photos.
