Over 1,000 arrested so far for violating gun ban rule – PNP
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that it arrested 1,023 individuals for violating the gun ban for the 2025 midterm elections.
Among those apprehended for skirting the prohibition were as follows:
- 973 civilians
- 22 security guards
- Seven Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel
- Five PNP personnel (Of which, three are active; one is suspended; and one is in absence without official leave)
- Five personnel of other law enforcement agencies
- Four foreign nationals
- Two elected government officials
- Two appointed government officials
- Two children in conflict with the law
- One Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary personnel
The National Capital Region, Central Luzon and Central Visayas had the most arrests with 306, 162, and 138, respectively.
The gun ban also yielded 1,019 confiscated firearms so far, according to PNP data:
- 403 revolvers
- 306 pistols
- 41 replica guns
- 26 explosives
- 26 Class A firearms
- 10 Rifles
- Eight shotguns
- Three Class B firearms
- 196 other types of firearms
The firearms were seized in 452 police response operations, 142 anti-illegal drug operations, 95 checkpoint operations, 58 gun buy-bust operations, and 272 other law enforcement operations.

Two suspected election-related incidents were logged in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), while the number of validated ERIs remain at one case in Western Visayas.
Meanwhile, the total number of non-election related incidents was at 13.
The PNP also reported conducting 267,840 Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoints.
