MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday sympathized with other candidates competing against his endorsed senatorial slate, claiming that he has heard other aspirants feeling nervous about facing them in the 2025 midterm elections.
Marcos made the pronouncement in Victorias City, Negros Occidental as he led the “Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” to woo voters in the province.
“Naririnig ko po ‘yung ating katunggali ay siguro nine-nerbyos na sila, kasi kung ako man, kung tatakbo akong senator, at wala ako dito sa grupong ito at titignan ko sila? Nako, nenerbyosin din ako,” said Marcos.
(I hear our opponent is probably getting nervous, because if I were to run for senator, and I’m not here in this group and I’m going to look at them? I would be nervous too.)
“Sasabihin ko rin mahirap na laban ito, masyadong magagaling itong mga katapat ko, masyadong sanay masyadong marunong at masyadong nagmamahal sa Pilipinas,” he added.
(I will also say that this will be a tough fight, my opponents are very good, very skilled, very knowledgeable and very loving towards the Philippines.)
He then expressed how grateful he is that he would end up working together with the slate he’s campaigning for.

“Magkakatulungan po kami at wala na kong hihingin na kung sino ba ‘yung mas magaling dito sa grupong ito,” he said.
(We will work together and it would be impossible to ask for anyone better than this group.)
This latest rally marks Alyansa’s sixth proclamation rally across the country.
