MANILA, Philippines — Veteran actress Nora Aunor has backed out as nominee of the People’s Champ Guardians Party-list and will instead support another group in the 2025 midterm elections.

“Imbes na maghanap pa ng posisyon, mas pinili kong suportahan ang subok na sa tunay na serbisyo sa bayan, at ito ay ang Kabayan Partylist,” Aunor said, as quoted in a statement from Kabayan Partylist.

(Instead of looking for a position, I chose to support what has been proven in real service to the people, and this is the Kabayan Partylist.)

Ron Salo.

(We greatly appreciate this support from Ms. Nora Aunor, a unique Filipino who inspired many of our compatriots. Just as he spent his whole life devoting his talent and heart to the people, the same is our commitment to uphold laws that will truly improve the lives of our citizens.)

The party list was the first to file a certificate of nomination and acceptance for the midterm elections.
