Acidre thanks Leyte for backing Alyansa Senate bets

President Marcos raises the hands of Alyansa senatorial candidates in Tacloban City, Leyte.

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte — Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre thanked residents of this city and Leyte for coming out to support the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate, with the police estimating a crowd of around 100,000.

In a statement on Saturday, Acidre said this is important as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. needs help in the Senate for his administration to actualize its legislative agenda for progress.

“We thank our kababayan here in Tacloban and Leyte for the huge attendance in the Alyansa grand rally on Friday,” Acidre said.

“Tulungan natin na magkaroon ng mga katuwang sa Senado si Pangulong Bongbong Marcos para ganap nating matupad ang kanyang hinaing para sa isang Bagong Pilipinas, isang bansa kung saan walang isang Pilipinong maiiwan, kung saan tayong lahat ay nagtutulungan at kung saan abot kamay natin ang isa mas maliwanag na kinabukasan,” he added.

Reports from Tacloban City Police Director, Col. Noelito Getigan, showed that the Alyansa rally was attended by more or less 100,000 residents.

“This refers to grand rally of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas with His Excellency, President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr. held in Tacloban City last March 14, 2025.  In this regard, as per assessment of this office, the said Grand Rally was attended by an estimated number of more or less 100,000 people,” Getigan said in a letter to Tingog party-list president Glenn Haro Capucion.

On Friday, no less than House of Representatives Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez assured Marcos, his cousin, of a victory for the ticket as Leyte remains supportive of the administration.

Marcos’ mother, former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos, is from Leyte, making the province a bailiwick of the administration.

“Ipinapangako ko na mananalo nang malaki ang mga kandidato ng ating Pangulo dito sa Tacloban City at Leyte. We will deliver a  big victory for the Alyansa ticket,” Romualdez said.
