Marcos skips sister in Alyansa Cavite sortie; Imee says okay

Sen. Imee Marcos and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

MANILA, Philippines — After Sen. Imee Marcos announced that she would be skipping the campaign rallies of the administration’s senatorial slate to focus on probing former President Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest, her brother President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. skipped her while introducing candidates in a sortie in Cavite on Friday.

In his campaign speech, President Marcos introduced each senatorial bet of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.

Last March 11, Duterte was arrested and sent to a detention center in The Hague in The Netherlands on the order of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

He is facing a case at the ICC for crimes against humanity he allegedly committed during his administration’s war against drugs.

The drug war left at least 6,000 people dead, according to government data. However, human rights groups reported that at least 20,000 were killed during the campaign.
