Camille Villar: Women play a vital role in strengthening PH economy
BALANGA, Bataan – Senatorial candidate Camille Villar reaffirmed her strong support for women’s empowerment as she joined Women’s Month celebrations in Balanga, Bataan on Thursday.
As the youngest senatorial candidate in the May 2025 midterm elections, Villar vowed to continue advocating for policies that protect women’s rights and create more opportunities for them in society.
Believing in the principle that “women lift up economies,” Villar highlighted the significant role women play in the country’s growth and progress.
During the event, Villar also paid tribute to her grandmother, Nanay Curing, the mother of former Senate President Manny Villar, who hails from Orani, Bataan.
As a mother, daughter, and legislator, Villar said she understands the multiple responsibilities that women take on, whether at home or in the workplace.
Villar reiterated her commitment to prioritizing women’s welfare in her legislative agenda, ensuring that government programs cater to their needs.
As a representative of Las Piñas, Villar pushed for the passage of the Pregnant Women Welfare Act and the Equal Maternity Protection Act, which aim to provide benefits for pregnant women, particularly those in the informal sector.
She also championed measures that grant free medical and hospitalization benefits to indigent women.
A strong advocate of maternal and reproductive health, Villar has distributed maternity kits to women from low-income households and spearheaded initiatives such as the Nanay Fair in Las Piñas.
The program provides livelihood training, financial coaching, and seminars for mothers in the city’s barangays.
With her legislative track record and firm advocacy for women’s rights, Villar continues to push for policies that support women’s empowerment and economic participation as key drivers of national progress.
