MANILA, Philippines  — Senatorial candidate and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay has assured residents of Quezon City that they can count on her for help as Metro Manila is just a big family.

Binay also told the over 1,500 women participants in the dance competition that the roles that they play make them a “superwoman,” adding that women public officials like her and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte have to serve the people while balancing it with family life.

(As a woman, it is hard to be a mayor because we are also mothers. We are also wives.)

Kailangang mag-grocery. Kailangang alagaan ang iyong asawa,” she added.

Binay said Belmonte also appealed to Quezon City residents to vote for her in the 2025 midterm elections, having seen the Makati local chief executive’s experience as a lawyer, lawmaker, and mayor.

Binay, who is running under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate, has been moving around local government units as part of her campaign.

In her visit to Batangas towns of Bauan, Cuenca, and Batangas City last Tuesday, Binay said she would speak for local government units should she win in the midterm elections.

According to her, part of her priority legislation is the provision of regular salaries and benefits to barangay officials, along with insurance coverage for disaster response workers.

Binay said that Makati’s innovative daycare program helped students achieve good scores at the NAT, which then translates to high literacy rates and eventually, labor competitiveness.
