MANILA, Philippines — Seven people had been killed and seven more were wounded in election-related violence as of March 23, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo gave this data in a recording sent to reporters in Camp Crame on Wednesday.
According to the police data, the casualties were part of 11 election-related cases validated and recorded by the PNP so far, just weeks before the midterm elections in May.
“As to the status of the suspects, the suspects remain at large,” Fajardo said in the recording.
Fajardo did not disclose where the casualties came from.
She said, however, that of the 11 cases, five are now on case buildup, five are in the preliminary investigation stage, and one case was dismissed.
