Philippine Red Cross: All assets ready for 2025 polls

MANILA, Philippines — All assets of the Philippine Red Cross will be readily available on  for the May midterm elections, PRC Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang said on Thursday. 

According to Pang, their volunteers are trained for the provision of first aid and other medical services to ensure safe elections.

“Ang magpaparticipate this time is all of our 102 chapters all over the country. Ang dinagdag namin this year ay lahat ng services, assets namin sa Red Cross ay nakahanda,” Pang said on the sidelines of the signing of memorandum of agreement of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Department of Health (DOH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and PRC. 

(All of our 102 chapters all over the country will participate this time. What we added this year is all our services, and assets in the Red Cross are ready.)

Pang added that their assets include ambulances, fire trucks, rescue trucks, generators, blood banks, and water sanitary stations. 

She said that the PRC will be on standby 10 meters away from major polling stations nationwide.

She also said that for PRC chapters deployed in areas under serious threats, they align their service with their safe access framework where they assess the help needed in the area.

She shared that while 1,053 PRC volunteers participated in the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, they will have to meet with Comelec, DOH, and DILG to properly determine the volunteers needed in their chapters.
