Datu Odin Sinsuat now under Comelec control – Garcia

MANILA, Philippines — Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao del Norte is now under Commission on Elections (Comelec) control.

This was announced by Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia on Friday.

According to him, the Comelec control order will be effective immediately once the poll body releases its resolution, which will be out anytime on Friday.

Once put under Comelec control, the poll body will be the de facto local government unit in charge in that area.

This development came after the killing of a Comelec officer in the town.

A Comelec provincial election supervisor, Bai Maceda Lidasan Abo, was attacked while on her way to her office at Barangay Dalican in Datu Odin Sinsuat on March 26.

She and her husband declared were dead on arrival.
