MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered congressional candidate Christian Sia to explain why he should not face disciplinary action after cracking sexual jokes on single mothers during a campaign sortie.

The SC issued a show cause order against Sia after lawyers Allen Liberato-Espino and Michelle Laserna-Adricula filed a complaint against him; and Gabriela sent a letter to the SC urging the conduct of an investigate the incident.

FEATURED STORIES

All this developed after Sia, during a campaign speech in Pasig, jokingly remarked that he’s offering himself to single mothers, particularly  “menstruating” ones.

(For the solo parents of Pasig, once a year, the solo parents who are still menstruating, clearly still menstruating, and are feeling sad, once a year, you can have sex with me. Those who are interested, sign up here at the table on the side.)”
