Abby Binay gains endorsement of Nueva Ecija Gov. Oyie Umali
Senatorial candidate and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay on Wednesday gained the endorsement of Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio “Oyie” Umali during a meet-and-greet with local officials held at the municipality of Santa Rosa.
Umali assured Binay of the full support of the province of Nueva Ecija, saying that the Senate needs someone like her who truly understands the needs of local governments.
Binay responded by thanking Umali and his fellow officials for their support and pledging to shine a light on prevailing issues faced by local governments in the country.
Other officials present at the gathering included Nueva Ecija Vice Governor Emmanuel Antonio Umali, 1st District Rep. Cherry Umali, board members, mayors, and ABC presidents of the province.
Binay said her priorities include major amendments to the 1991 Local Government Code to strengthen local government units as catalysts of sustainable and inclusive development in the country.
She has also vowed to push for legislative innovations that will translate to better services for the Filipino people, such as free maintenance medicines and better preventive healthcare, stronger educational foundation in early childhood, and tax-exempt overtime pay and bonuses for better takehome pay of workers in both government and the private sector.
Mayors from various localities of Nueva Ecija also welcomed Binay, including Christopher Aguilar (Santa Rosa), Lovella Belmonte-Espinoza (Zaragoza), Boyet Joson (Quezon), Sylvia Austria (Jaen), Hermogenes Tadiaman (Llanera), Cesaeio Lopez Jr. (San Isidro), Pacifico Monta (Talugtug), Larry Ponce (General Natividad), Nerito Santos Jr. (Talavera City), Rogelio Abad (Carranglan), Boyito Dizon (Guimba), Ric Padilla (Bongabon), Elan Nagaño (San Leonardo), Armi Alvarez (Muñoz), Vic Badar (Nampicuan), Alex Rommel Romano (Lupao), Trina Andred (Rizal), Baby Natividad (Gapan), Florida Esteban (Cuyapo), Mac Andred (Santo Domingo), Roberto Agdipa (Pantabangan), Arnel Daus (Laur), Gilbert Moreno (Aliaga), Eufemia Domingo (Licab), and Mayo Natividad (Gapan).
