Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico endorses senatorial candidate and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay

MANILA, Philippines – Senatorial candidate and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay has earned the endorsement of the governors and other local leaders of La Union and Pangasinan during her visit to the said provinces on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, together with former Governor Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III, endorsed Binay during a meeting held Sunday with mayors and local candidates of the Nationalist People’s Coalition at their team’s headquarters in the municipality of Bauang.

In his speech, former Governor Ortega described Binay as a “very innovative and visionary leader who is genuine and unpretentious,” likening her to “a breath of fresh air”.

“Kapag nakakakita ako ng ganitong pulitiko at ganitong klaseng public servant, nagkakaroon ako ng pag-asa. Ginaganahan ako. We deserve the government that we have, kasi tayo ang bumoboto. Kaya piliin nating mabuti ang ating mga ihahalal. Sila ang ating magiging katuwang para sa magandang kinabukasan,” Ortega said.

Also present at the said meeting were La Union Vice Governor Thomas Dumpit Jr., 1st District Congresswoman Geraldine Joy Ortega, 1st District Provincial Board Members Geraldine Ortega and Jonathan Orros, and 2nd District Provincial Board Members Henry Balbin, Georgina Estepa Flores, Dr. Albert Nidoy, and Christian Rivera.

On Monday, Binay was also endorsed by Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico together with Vice Governor Mark Lambino and Abono Partylist Representative Robert Raymund Estrella.

They expressed their full support for Binay and called on fellow local leaders to help her win a seat at the Senate during a meeting held at the Provincial Capitol in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

“Tulungan natin si Senator Abby Binay dahil siya’y may puso para sa LGU,” Guico said, pointing out that the province has some two million registered voters.

For his part, Congressman Estrella lauded Binay as one of the most efficient mayors in the country, sharing his observations of improvements in Makati under her leadership.

Binay expressed her gratitude to the local leaders of both provinces for their support, vowing to advocate for legislative measures to strengthen local government units throughout the country.

“I am deeply grateful for the wholehearted support given by the incumbent officials and local candidates of La Union and Pangasinan. Their vote of confidence in my ability to deliver on my campaign promises further fuels my resolve to be their voice in the Senate,” Binay said.

The senatorial bet assured the people of La Union and Pangasinan of her commitment to champion better healthcare services, including the provision of free maintenance medicines, better education through greater focus on early childhood education, and better take home pay for workers through tax-free overtime pay and bonuses.

 Binay on Sunday also gained the endorsement of Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez during the campaign rally of “Team UnliSerbisyo” attended by local candidates and residents.
