Abby Binay’s Senate bid endorsed by 31 Cebu mayors

Cebu mayors endorse the senatorial bid of Makati City Mayor Abby Binay

MANILA, Philippines – Senatorial candidate and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay gained the endorsement of 31 mayors from the different cities and municipalities of Cebu during a meet and greet in Cebu City on Tuesday.

Binay thanked her fellow mayors for their support, stating that one of her priorities in the Senate will be the amendment of the 1991 Local Government Code.

She said it is crucial in strengthening the capability of local governments to respond to the needs of their constituents.

Also present at the meeting were Congresswoman Rhea Gullas and Congressman Peter John Calderon.

Earlier, Binay was endorsed by Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia.

Binay has vowed to advocate for better healthcare including free maintenance medicines, especially for the elderly, better education system with greater focus on early childhood education, and tax-free overtime pay and bonuses of workers in government and the private sector.
