Lanao del Norte officials endorse Camille Villar’s Senate bid
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte — Prominent political leaders in Lanao del Norte have thrown their support behind senatorial candidate Camille Villar, who pledged to prioritize agriculture and infrastructure development should she win a seat in the Senate this May.
During her visit to Tubod, Rep. Khalid Dimaporo of the province’s first district, along with his team, publicly endorsed Villar’s candidacy.
He called on his constituents to back the young legislator in the upcoming elections, citing her commitment to development programs that matter to Filipinos in the provinces.
In a separate event, Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda “Angging” Dimaporo also expressed support for Villar during a gathering of local supporters and officials.
The Dimaporos invited Villar to meet with municipal mayors and local candidates, providing her with an opportunity to share her legislative agenda.
Villar emphasized the need to modernize the country’s agriculture sector to attract young Filipinos to farming.
She proposed increased government investment in training, equipment, and technology to boost productivity and ensure long-term food security.
“Our farmers deserve more than just recognition—they need concrete support and programs that will allow them to thrive in a modern economy,” Villar said.
She also highlighted the importance of infrastructure development, not only in Mindanao but across the Philippines.
Villar underscored the role of public works in driving economic growth, citing key projects spearheaded by her family.
Villar pointed out that her mother, Senator Cynthia Villar, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, has allocated more than P200 million in agricultural machinery and financial assistance to over 71 cooperatives in Lanao del Norte alone.
She also praised her brother, Senator Mark Villar, who as former Secretary of Public Works and Highways, oversaw the construction of the 3.77-kilometer Pangil Bay Bridge connecting Tangub City in Misamis Occidental to Tubod, Lanao del Norte—cutting travel time between the towns and fostering regional connectivity.
Drawing from her family’s legacy in public service, Villar vowed to continue programs that uplift the agriculture sector and improve national infrastructure, while also advocating for youth, mothers, senior citizens, and verseas Filipino workers.
“I am inspired by what we’ve accomplished so far, and I am committed to building on that legacy, especially for the communities that need it the most,” she said.
