Revilla backs P20 / kilo rice rollout, pushes for nationwide launch

Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau)
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Thursday expressed strong support for the government’s rollout of rice priced at P20 per kilo in the Visayas beginning in May, calling it a “good start” toward fulfilling a key campaign promise of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Revilla said the initiative is an important step toward ensuring food affordability and availability for Filipino families.
“This is part of the fulfillment of President Marcos’ promise and our shared aspiration for accessible and sufficient food on every table,” the senator said in a statement.
He added that the administration is on the right track in making affordable rice accessible to Filipinos, and urged the swift expansion of the program nationwide.
“As this kind of program is put in place, it is best that we all support it for a common goal of broadening government services,” Revilla said.
He emphasized that affordable rice gives Filipinos renewed hope for the future.
“With cheap rice, there is hope for tomorrow,” he said.
