Speaking at a press conference in Dagupan City, Binay reminded voters that it would be futile to elect candidates who do not share the same vision and aspirations.

She pointed out that an elected Senator will not be able to single-handedly effect legislative reforms and innovations, hence the need for allies with mutual goals and principles in the Senate.

“I think we fail to realize that the Senate is a collegial body. Kahit maipanalo ko ang sarili ko, pero ’yung mga kasamahan ko na mananalo din ay hindi parehas ng adbokasiya, e ’di hindi ko rin mapu-push ’yung adbokasiya ko,” she said.

Binay further illustrated the importance of campaigning for the entire team, not just for individual candidates in the Alyansa slate.

“So hindi po puwede na ang kampanya ay ako lang. Kailangan po, ikakampanya lahat. Dahil anong mangyayari sa ’yo kung ikaw lang ang nanalo sa Senado at hindi mo kakampi ’yung mga kasama mo? Lahat po ng campaign promises mo, hindi mo magagawa because you will not get the support of your colleagues,” she said.

Binay said the team uses the collective approach in the campaign, always focusing on them as a group rather than on individual candidates.

“So it is important, the approach always in the campaign is ‘kami pong lahat.’ Hindi po puwedeng ‘ako lang,’ kailangan ‘kami’,” she said.

Joining Binay in the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate are Benhur Abalos, Pia Cayetano, Panfilo Lacson, Lito Lapid, Manny Pacquiao, Bong Revilla, Vicente Sotto III, Francis Tolentino, Erwin Tulfo, and Camille Villar.
