Pasigueños need tangible public service – Sarah Discaya

MANILA, Philippines – Pasigueños deserve real and tangible services, not mere good governance, to survive, mayoral candidate Sarah “Ate Sarah” Discaya said on Saturday.

“I am for good governance. I want this, too. But it should come with tangible accomplishment. My opponent had six years to make the lives of Pasigueños better, but he was not able to build schools, hospitals and houses which are what our people need,” Discaya said.

“Usapang sikmura. Kinabukasan. Kalusugan. Maayos na tirahan. Ito ang kailangan ng mga Pasigueño. Hindi sapat ang sinasabing maayos at malinis na pagpapatakbo ng lokal na pamahalaan,” she added.

(It’s about basic needs. The future. Health. Decent housing. These are what the people of Pasig need. A supposedly clean and orderly local government is not enough.)

She also said that “no big dreams or vision will materialize if the leader won’t take the first step in making promises a reality.”

Running under the banner of the “Team Kaya This,” Discaya plans to use her entrepreneurial skills to up infrastructure facilities to improve the lives of her constituents.

Among her priority programs is the construction of an 11-storey university building, a seven-storey high school building, and an up-to-date elementary building to enhance the learning opportunities for the city’s youth.

She is also eyeing the construction of a modern 11-storey hospital equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, which will offer free medicines and zero billing, within two years if elected.

She will also pursue vertical housing projects to address the housing backlog in the city, and build an ultramodern transport terminal to house the metropolis’ public transportation and make public commuting more convenient for passengers.

To address worsening traffic congestion, Discaya wants to establish a sensor-based traffic system, and provide vertical parking spaces for car owners.

She will likewise improve the city government’s flood control management policy to mitigate the impact of floodings during the rainy season and reduce, if not totally stop, damage to life and property.

Improving the city’s aerial firefighting and rescue capability, construction of a new road and wide esplanade near the Pasig River, digitalization of hospital and city hall services, provision of a city-wide free wifi connection, and the establishment of a command center to closely monitor and enforce a city-wide anti-crime CCTV network are also included in the Discaya’s agenda.

“Ito ang kailangan naming mga Pasigueño , mga proyekto na magpapagaan sa araw-araw naming pakikipaglaban sa mga pagsubok sa buhay. Ito ang inaalay ko sa aking mga kababayan. Ito ang aking mga pangako. Mga pangakong kayang-kaya kong tuparin,” Discaya said.
