Gathering at the Patio Ysabelle Events Place in Binan, SK leaders spoke on behalf of their members about young people’s aspirations.
They declared that hurdling challenges to finish their studies, and getting more access to opportunities to improve themselves as leaders to land good jobs remain as their top goals.
“Makatapos ng pag-aaral” (to finish studies), “paghusayin ang kakayahang maging lifer” (improve leadership skills) —- these are common desires expressed by the young attendees of the 1Pacman Youth General Assembly.
First nominee Milka Romero told the SK crowd, “1Pacman is truly aligned with your goals. Our track record of having provided 30,000 scholarships during 1Pacman’s three terms in Congress is unmistakable proof that 1Pacman believes in education for the youth.”
“The leadership trainings we provide will include the key values and mindset formation that are also vital to our sports advocacy. And these are determination, discipline, team work, as well as strategic thinking,” said Milka, who not only projects but lives out the vitality of youthful leadership.
At 32, Milka adds high-impact socio-civic work to her roles as CEO of the Miro Group which is in the food business, and as owner of two women’s professional sports teams, the Capital1 Solar Spikers and Capital1 Solar Strikers.
Romero outlined the benefits and support that 1Pacman Partylist can offer to youth leaders, aligned with its advocacy on sports, education, and public service.
These include access to leadership camps and workshops on public speaking, project management; mentoring from seasoned leaders and professionals in government and private sectors; priority access to scholarship programs or educational grants for deserving applicants; funding and logistical support for youth-led community initiatives and outreach programs; participation in sports clinics, among others.
Encouraging entrepreneurship is also another facet of the movement’s benefits which will include training on feasibility studies as well as identifying and tapping resources for start-ups.
“We certainly need to invest, in greater extents, on our youth,” Milka said.
“As the May 15 elections comes near, and as renew our call to put us, 1Pacman, back again in Congress, we remind you all that you are the next torch bearers to make champions of Filipinos in your midst,” concluded Romero.
