MANILA, Philippines — A Palace official told teachers on Wednesday that the government is in full force to support them in their duties on election day, May 12.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, during a briefing, said the Department of Education (DepEd) will deploy its election task force as early as May 11 to monitor and provide whatever help the teachers may need.

(Education Secretary Angara said that on election day, the entire government force will be with the teachers and staff – guarding, assisting and protecting our teachers of the nation.)

(There are funds set aside for honorariums for those who will serve in this election and also for the preparation and cleaning of schools before and after the election.)

Republic Act No. 10756 or An Act Rendering Election Service Non-Compulsory for Public School Teachers states that the Commission on Elections may tap the assistance of the DepEd’s non-teaching personnel and other government employees, as well as private school teachers, to render election-related services./apl
