2 ride-hailing apps offer free ride, discounts to voters on May 12

MANILA, Philippines — Voters can avail free rides and ride discounts from two ride-hailing platforms Grab Philippines and MoveIt on May 12, election day.
This initiative is part of the “#RIDETOVOTE” campaign that the two platforms launched with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) ahead of the May polls.

In a statement, Grab Philippines said that voters can use the promo code RIDETOVOTE through the Grab application to avail the P50 off discount from GrabCar rides from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., or the voting period.
Senior citizens and persons with disabilities who have registered accounts on the Grab platform will also receive a special promo code through the platform’s in-app message. They can claim free rides during the early voting period of 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. using the special code.
Meanwhile, voters can enjoy a P20 off motorcycle taxi rides using the promo code BOTONAMI from May 10 to May 12.
Booking assistance stations will also be deployed in 10 busiest voting centers of the country, primarily located in Metro Manila and Cebu to assist voters in booking Grab or MoveIt rides “and help them access safe, convenient, and reliable transportation at discounted fares.”

Aside from the transport accessibility promo, Grab Philippines also launched a voter education campaign that includes checklists for election day, voting reminders and guidelines, and identification reminders.
“Through this partnership with Comelec, we affirm our commitment to supporting the Filipino people not only in their everyday journeys, but also in their collective journey toward a more inclusive and prosperous future,” Grab Philippines Country Head Ronald Roda said in the same statement.
