The senatorial slate backed by former President Rodrigo Duterte will serve as “checks and balances” in the government, according to Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) bet and reelectionist Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

MANILA, Philippines — The senatorial slate backed by former President Rodrigo Duterte will serve as “checks and balances” in the government, according to Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) bet and reelectionist Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

He made this pronouncement at the slate’s miting de avance at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on Thursday.

“Kung gusto ninyo ng magkakaroon kayo ng Senado… na independente at talagang sinusunod ang doktrina ng checks and balances na magbabantay sa mga pang-aabuso ng iba-ibang branch of government, wala kayong ibang gawin kundi iboto itong 10,” he said, referring to himself and the slate, dubbed the “DuterTen.”

Dela Rosa appealed to voters to keep in mind their campaign against drugs, criminality and corruption when casting their ballots in Monday’s polls.

“Kung tayo magkakaroon ng mga mambabatas na ang iniisip ay puro bulsa lamang, goodbye Philippines. Pero kung ayaw ninyo mag-goodbye sa Pilipinas, ang solusyon diyan, itong mga nasa likod ko, DuterTen,” the reelectionist senator added.

(If we will have lawmakers who only think about their pockets, goodbye Philippines. But if you don’t want to say goodbye to the Philippines, the solution there is those behind me, the DuterTen.)
