MANILA, Philippines — Hundreds of supporters of Makabayan senatorial candidates flocked Tomas Morato Extension in Quezon City for the coalition’s national miting de avance, three days before this year’s midterm elections.

As of 5:30 p.m. on Friday supporters filled a portion of Tomas Morato Avenue. Most of them were carrying colorful banners, flyers, and fans also bearing the names of nominees of Kabataan, Gabriela, ACT Teachers, and Bayan Muna Partylists.

- Urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) Mimi Doringo
- Filipino Nurses United Secretary General Jocelyn Andamo
- Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas Chairperson Danilo Ramos
- Sandugo Movement of Moro and Indigenous Peoples for Self-Determination Co-chairperson Amirah Lidasan

Among the priority measures and initiatives the candidates plan to push once elected are the anti-dynasty bill, additional budget for the education sector, to increase daily minimum wage of private sector workers to P1,200, the Genuine Agrarian Reform Bill, the Genuine Fisheries and Aquatic Reform Bill, and abolishment of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, among many others. /jpv
