Curfew enforced in Cavite to ensure peaceful elections
LUCENA CITY — The provincial government of Cavite has imposed a curfew from May 10 to 12 to help maintain peace and order during the midterm elections on Monday, May 12.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed Provincial Ordinance No. 481, or the “2025 Philippine Midterm Elections Curfew Ordinance in the Province of Cavite,” on May 9 via teleconference. The ordinance sets curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. across the province during the three-day period.
“During this time, all individuals, regardless of age, shall remain indoors and shall not loiter or assemble in public places,” the ordinance states.
It added that the provincial government is “committed to maintaining peace and order in the province and ensuring the safety of its residents and visitors during the 2025 Philippine Midterm Elections.”
Exempt from the curfew are election officials and personnel on duty, law enforcement officers, individuals traveling to or from work or emergencies, and those with parental or guardian permission for essential activities.
Violators face penalties of P2,000 to P5,000 and up to six months in jail.
