Senate President Chiz Escudero and wife Heart Evangelista cast their votes at their precinct in Sorsogon.
MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Francis Escudero cast his vote together with his wife, actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista, on Monday, election day.
Escudero and Evangelista were early birds when they voted at Buhatan Integrated School in Barangay Buhatan in Sorsogon at around 7:00 a.m.
Escudero urged Filipinos to cast their votes, noting that this is the only day when all people have an equal voice.
“It is only on election day when every Filipino is truly equal, whether rich or poor, powerful or ordinary citizen, educated or uneducated, regardless of gender or appearance; each of us has only one vote with the same value,” Escudero said in a Facebook post in Filipino on Sunday.
“Let us exercise our right to choose who we want to vote for because no one can say that they know better who deserves to win just because they are rich, powerful, or more educated,” he added.
More than 68 million registered voters could now cast their ballots for these midterm polls, which see 18,255 elective local and national posts nationwide.
Regular voting is from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., but priority sectors like senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women could vote as early as 5:00 a.m. /edv/abc
