MANILA, Philippines — Former President Rodrigo Duterte is banking on “miracles” from God after being briefed about the “realistic” winning chances of his party’s senatorial slate.

Vice President Sara Duterte made this known on Monday during an interview in a polling precinct in Davao City, where she cast her vote in the upcoming midterm polls.

“[Former] President Duterte called. He was asking about the run of the campaign. He was asking what the chances are of the 10 senators, and I gave him a realistic number. And then he said, ‘Well, if that’s the realistic [chances], let’s leave it up to God, the miracles,” the vice president said in Filipino in an interview.

Duterte’s Partido Demokratiko Pilipino is fielding Senate reelectionists Ronald `Bato’ Dela Rosa and Bong Go, and Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta.

The slate also features first-time senatorial candidates Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy, singer Jimmy Bondoc, action star Philip Salvador, former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez, lawyers Jayvee Hinlo and Raul Lambino, and physician Richard Mata.

Of the 10 candidates, only Go and Bato are always included in the Magic 12 of senatorial candidates leading in surveys. /ca/abc
