Elderly senatorial bets vote early during priority hours

MANILA, Philippines — Several senatorial candidates, who are among the 12 million registered senior citizens, cast their ballots early as they availed themselves of the voting privilege given to such priority sectors on May 12.

Regular voting is from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., but priority persons like senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women can vote as early as 5:00 a.m.

Senate reelectionist Lito Lapid, 69, voted in Porac Elementary School in Porac, Pampanga at 5:00 a.m.

Former Senator Ping Lacson, 76, was also spotted at Bayan Luma Elementary School in Imus, Cavite, as he was casting his vote at 6:35 a.m.

Former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto, 76, also voted early and used the senior citizens’ lane.
