8 arrested in alleged vote-buying in Camarines Sur

NAGA CITY – Police have arrested a total of eight individuals involved in alleged vote-buying activities across several municipalities in Camarines Sur.

Police Brigadier General Andre Perez Dizon, Bicol police chief, told the Inquirer in a private message on Monday that eight individuals were arrested in Caramoan town.  They were later released by the prosecutor for regular filing of charges.

In a separate incident in Nabua town, one individual was apprehended through a citizen’s arrest. The person has since been released pending filing of a case.

In Iriga City, two suspects in alleged vote-buying activities remain at large as of this report.

“We are continuously monitoring the situation and pursuing legal proceedings where applicable,” Dizon said.

Meanwhile, the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) of Bicol police is on high alert and ready for immediate deployment as needed for the 2025 national and local elections.

Dizon said the unit is composed of personnel equipped to respond to various security concerns and prepared to reinforce police units across the region to maintain peace and order, address emergency situations, and support crowd control measures in polling areas.
