MANILA, Philippines — Reform PH People’s Party senatorial bet and former Sen. Gringo Honasan, Sen. Koko Pimentel and Marikina City 2nd District Rep. Stella Quimbo cast their votes for the 2025 national and local elections.

Over 315,980 registered voters are expected to flock to Marikina City’s 23 voting centers on election day, May 12, 2025.

Honasan votes at Barangay Industrial Valley

Honasan was among the first to cast his votes after early voting opened at 5 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lady Parochial School in Barangay Industrial Valley Complex.

Honasan is attempting a Senate comeback after unsuccessful bids in 2019 and 2022.

Although running as an independent, Honasan reportedly received the endorsement of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Early voting for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and pregnant voters was allowed from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Meanwhile, Pimentel was among the first to vote at the Leodegario Victorino Elementary School in Barangay Jesus dela Peña when regular voting hours began at 7 a.m.

The term-limited senator is seeking the congressional seat of Marikina’s 1st congressional district.

He is running against suspended Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro.

When asked about his thoughts on election day, Pimentel simply told reporters in a chance interview on Monday, “I’m just happy for Philippine democracy, for exercising our right to vote.”

On another hand, incumbent Marikina City 2nd District Rep. Stella Quimbo voted at the SSS Village Elementary School in Barangay Concepcion Dos.

She made her entrance at 9 a.m. with her husband, Miro, who is running for the very seat he once held and that she currently holds.

Although delayed by technical difficulties with the automated counting machine’s (ACM) scanner, she cast her ballot at around 11 a.m.

Quimbo is vying for the mayoralty, up against Marikina City 1st District Rep. Maan Teodoro, who is Marcy Teodoro’s wife.

When asked about her odds in a chance interview after her vote, Quimbo stressed in a mix of Filipino and English, “The truth will prevail. I leave it to God, but the truth will prevail.”

Suspended Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro and his wife, incumbent 1st District Rep. Maan Teodoro, arrived at the San Roque Elementary School to vote on election day afternoon.

Teodoro’s wife is vying for her husband’s seat as mayor.

Meanwhile, Teodoro filed a bid to take her seat as 1st congressional district representative in a race against term-limited Sen. Koko Pimentel.

However, the Comelec cancelled Teodoro’s certificate of candidacy for “material misrepresentation” regarding his address.

Despite this, the poll body also said Teodoro’s name would appear on the ballot since the Comelec’s decision was not yet “final and executory.”

When asked about his thoughts heading into the polls, in a chance interview, Teodoro said in a mix of Filipino and English, “I hope the people will be the ones to decide and that the people see what is just… I’m very confident that the people will know what to do.”
