MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday evening expressed disappointment over the partial results of the 2025 elections, but vowed to build a “powerful” opposition against the current administration.
Duterte made the pronouncement as she expressed her gratitude to her supporters who voted for the candidates she endorsed in the 2025 polls.
“While the outcome was not what we had hoped for, our commitment to the people remains unwavering. We will continue to hold the government accountable, advocate for the issues that matter, and work tirelessly to serve as a strong and constructive opposition,” she said in a statement.
The vice president then declared her desire to build a future that is “fair and inclusive,” inviting the public to join her cause of building the opposition against the current government.

“We invite all citizens—regardless of background or past affiliation—to join us in building a powerful and principled opposition,” she said.
Duterte’s statement comes after only three of the PDP-Laban’s “DuterTEN” entered the Magic 12 in the Comelec’s partial and unofficial results as of 11:46 p.m, particularly reelectionists Senators Christopher “Bong’ Go and Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, as well as aSgip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta.
Two other candidates she endorsed may still make it to the final list: Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar and Sen. Imee Marcos who currently sits at 10th and 12th, respectively.
