Calabarzon governors: 2 re-elected, 1 returns, 2 newly elected
LUCENA CITY — In the Calabarzon region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), three re-electionist governors successfully secured new three-year terms, while two others clinched fresh mandates as newly elected provincial executives.
In Quezon, Gov. Angelina Tan and her running mate, Vice Gov. Anacleto Alcala III, both of the local party Stand-Q, handily won re-election, defeating little-known challengers.
Based on partial, unofficial results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Media Server (INQ VotePH2025), with 97 percent of election returns transmitted as of 12:58 p.m. Tuesday, Tan garnered 983,320 votes, while Alcala received 829,168. Quezon has 1,502,824 registered voters.
In Lucena City, Mayor Mark Alcala and his father, Vice Mayor Roderick Alcala—both unopposed—were also re-elected. Mark received 133,390 votes, while Roderick tallied 127,097. The city has 199,416 registered voters.
Of Quezon’s four congressional districts, only the 3rd was contested. Incumbent Rep. Reynante Arogancia (NPC) secured 160,513 votes, soundly defeating General Luna Mayor Matt Erwin Florido (Independent), who received 70,875. Florido had earlier been disqualified by the Comelec’s First Division and en banc over vote-buying allegations, though he has also filed a counter-complaint against Arogancia, which is still pending.
Incumbents Mark Enverga (NPC, 1st District), David Suarez (Lakas, 2nd), and Mike Tan (NPC, 4th) ran unopposed and retained their congressional seats.
In Laguna, with 98 percent of election returns transmitted, former congresswoman and broadcast journalist Sol Aragones (Akay) was elected governor with 627,034 votes, replacing outgoing Gov. Ramil Hernandez, who completed his third and final term.
Board Member JM Carait III (Lakas) won the vice gubernatorial race with 614,994 votes.

In Batangas, with 98 percent of returns in, former Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto (NP) returned to the Capitol after garnering 640,073 votes, defeating Mike Rivera (LP), who received 523,237, and two other candidates.
However, her son, Luis “Lucky” Manzano, lost in his vice gubernatorial bid. Former governor Dodo Mandanas won the seat with 804,225 votes, while Manzano received 552,044.

Vice gubernatorial candidate Ram Revilla Bautista (Lakas), who ran unopposed, received 1,166,769 votes.

In Rizal, with 100 percent of returns in as of 12:58 p.m. Tuesday, re-electionist Gov. Nina Ynares (NPC) won with 882,964 votes, defeating three independent rivals. Her running mate, Pining Gatbalayan, won the vice governorship with 599,715 votes, defeating four other candidates.

Comelec-Calabarzon Director Allan Enriquez described the elections in the region as a “relatively peaceful and resounding success.”
