Alyansa Senate bet Benhur Abalos concedes

Former Interior Secretary and senatorial candidate Benhur Abalos Jr. concedes

MANILA, Philippines — Former Interior and Local Government secretary and Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas Senate candidate Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. has conceded defeat after landing in 16th spot in the partial and unofficial count of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Abalos has so far garnered 11,350,115 votes, based on Comelec’s latest transparency server tally.

“My family and I sincerely thank everyone nationwide who supported, trusted us, extended assistance, shared their time, energy, prayers, and support,” Abalos said in a video message posted on social media.

“Thank you very much to my fellow candidates in the Alyansa slate, thank you very much for the company and friendship,” Abalos added.

“I warmly congratulate all the winners of the election. May you serve the country faithfully and wholeheartedly. And to my countrymen, the election is over. May we unite because that is the key to the country’s development.”
