MANILA, Philippines— Reelected Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Wednesday said he does not want to look “too far” when asked about a potential bid for a national post in the next elections.
Sotto was proclaime on Tuesday for his third and last term.
“I always appreciate it when people say nice things about me…but I think number one, we have to focus on where we are right now,” Sotto said during an INQToday interview.
“I don’t even mean position wise, politics wise, just a rule of thumb and guiding principle in life—wherever you are, do your best,” he also said, partly in Filipino.
“Where ever you are, do what you have to do. Mahirap tumingin ng masyadong malayo eh (It’s hard to look very much ahead),” he added.
As of 11:29 a.m. on Wednesday, data from the Comelec’s transparency server shows that Sotto dominated the mayoral race with 345,375 votes, defeating his opponent Sara Discaya who only got 29,104 votes.
