SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — In what appeared to be a smooth passing of the torch, family tandems dominated the mayoral and vice mayoral races in the neighboring towns of Masinloc and Palauig, with parents and children trading or passing on leadership roles.
In Masinloc, outgoing Mayor Arsenia “Senyang” Lim handed the reins to her daughter, Councilor Hazel Lim, who won the mayoralty with 18,867 votes, defeating two other contenders. The elder Lim, meanwhile, secured the vice mayoralty with 22,575 votes, besting Dhes Edora, who garnered 11,546.
In nearby Palauig, a father-and-son duo executed a role reversal. Christian Aceron clinched the mayoral post with 16,200 votes, defeating Bernie Cruz, who received 8,354. His father, outgoing Mayor Billy Aceron, won as vice mayor with 13,494 votes, surpassing opponent Xing Altares, who tallied 10,949.
