Fernando wins 3rd term in Bulacan, makes record with 1.1 million votes

CITY OF MALOLOS — Governor Daniel Fernando and Vice Governor Alexis Castro secured resounding victories in Bulacan’s midterm elections.

Fernando won a third and final term by a historic margin of nearly 1.2 million votes – the largest in the history of the province.

The Provincial Board of Canvassers, chaired by lawyer Mona Ann Campos, proclaimed the winners Tuesday at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.

Fernando’s 1,169,428 votes dwarfed opponents Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado (225,881) and Bogs Violago (224,586), while Castro’s 1,360,020 votes overwhelmed challenger Elmer Paguio’s 154,644.

“We will focus on solving Bulacan’s flood problem,” Fernando promised.

He also outlined plans for a coastal road, enhanced flood control systems, and a new dam to mitigate rainy season overflows.

The province’ congressional delegation includes returning representatives Danny Domingo (1st District), Tina Pancho (2nd District), Cholo Violago (3rd District), Salvador Pleyto (4th District) and Agatha Paula Cruz (5th District).

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan will see a mix of reelected and new members across the six districts of the province./apl
