MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) remains on track to complete the fastest canvassing of a national election ever as only 16 certificates of canvass (COCs) have not been integrated into the partial and official tally.

Comelec spokesperson and Director John Rex Laudiangco said on Wednesday night that 159 COCs have been officially canvassed by the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), which is currently stationed at the Manila Hotel’s tent city.

The NBOC receives and tallies results from the COCs, or the aggregated, final, and official count of votes for the senatorial and party-list race.  The COCs come from provinces, highly urbanized cities, local absentee voting, and overseas absentee voting.

Laudiangco said that 101 COCs were canvassed on Wednesday, while 58 COCs were processed on Tuesday.  With a total of 175 COCs, only 16 COCs remain before the official results for the senatorial and party-list races are completed.

“Highest number and of COCs canvassed by the National Board in the history of Philippine Elections!  Fastest too in just two days,” Laudiangco said.

Furthermore, the Comelec spokesperson said that they have received three more COCs on Wednesday but they were not canvassed yet as the NBOC adjourned its session.

Laudiangco said only four COCs have not been received:

Earlier, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said they believe canvassing for the national elections will be finished within the week — way quicker from the usual two weeks during previous automated elections, and the over-a-month period during the manual elections.

“It appears to be,” Garcia said.

Initially on Tuesday, Comelec said only 13 out of 175 COCs have been officially received by the NBOC.  However, the number grew after the NBOC resumed its session even after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Of the 175 COCs expected for the 2025 midterm elections, 82 will come from provinces, 64 from OAV, 26 from highly-urbanized cities, two from district board of canvassers (DBOC), and one from the LAV.

Currently, a diverse mix of candidates from different parties and alliances are dominating the senatorial race, as per the partial and unofficial count shown on Comelec’s transparency servers.  As of 5:25 p.m., Senator Bong Go still leads in the partial tally, getting over 26.49 million votes.
