The poll body said that this turnout comes second after the 84.10% voter turnout in the 2022 national and local elections where over 55 million voters out of 65 million registered voters cast their votes.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia on Thursday initially said that the total number of votes cast for the May 2025 elections was at 81.65%, representing 55,874,700 votes cast.
The NBOC finished canvassing all the certificates of canvass (COCs) from 64 Philippine posts abroad, 110 provinces, cities, municipalities, and districts in the country, and one from the local absentee voting in three days, from May 13-15. This is the fastest canvassing in the poll body’s history.
