Pangilinan: Hunger has no color, now is the time to act

Senator-elect Kiko Pangilinan said hunger “has no color” and urged action as he made his return to the upper house of Congress.

MANILA, Philippines — Senator-elect Kiko Pangilinan said hunger “has no color” and urged action as he made his return to the upper house of Congress.

Pangilinan anchored his Senate comeback bid on an advocacy of food security.

“Hunger has no color. Solutions have no color. Mercy waits for no one,” Pangilinan said in Filipino in a statement on Saturday.

“I return to the Senate carrying with me not only the promises but also the objectives: to work, to serve and to stand for every Filipino who dreams of a better and more orderly tomorrow,” the senator-elect added in Filipino.

“Thank you for the trust. Now, it’s time to act,” Pangilinan stressed.

He was unable to attend the proclamation for winning senatorial candidates at the Manila Hotel on Saturday due to his daughter’s graduation in the United States.

Pangilinan received 15,343,229 votes, according to the national certificate of canvass. /jpv
