MANILA, Philippines —“This victory is for all of you. Despite how elusive and how hard it was, it’s proof that if you stand for what’s right, you win,” reelectionist Imee Marcos said in Filipino on her being proclaimed senator-elect on Saturday afternoon.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed her the 12th-ranking senator in the midterm polls, with 13,339,227 votes.
Among those she thanked for her victory were former President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte.
“My faith in the wisdom of the Filipino people never wavered, in that they feel and know what sacrifice and principles mean. And they rewarded this with support and love, she said.
