MANILA, Philippines — Erwin Tulfo committed himself to “uniting and not further dividing” the nation after his proclamation as senator-elect on Saturday.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed Tulfo as the fourth-ranking senator with 17,118,881 votes in a ceremony at the Manila Hotel on Saturday.
“As your newly elected senator, I commit to being a bridge, not a barrier. I will work with leaders from all parties, listen to voices from all sectors, and prioritize laws and programs that will unite rather than further divide this nation,” Tulfo said in his message after being proclaimed.
“If we fail to unite now, we will not be able to achieve what our leaders from the past to the present have been working on: to uplift the life of every Filipino citizen,” he added.
