Comelec also directed the Reina Mercedes municipal board of canvassers to reconvene within five days from the receipt of the order in line with the proclamation of Respicio.

Based on reports, Respicio is a staunch critic of the Comelec’s automated election system.

Before Comelec ordered the suspension of his proclamation, Respicio faced a disqualification case filed by the Comelec’s Task Force Katotohanan, Katapatan, at Katarungan (KKK) sa Halalan for posting videos online wherein he claimed Comelec’s automated counting machines could be hacked to send fake election results.
