Comelec lifts suspension of proclamation of Isabela town vice mayor
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has lifted the suspension of the proclamation of lawyer Jeryll Harold Respicio, who won the vice mayoral race in Reina Mercedes, Isabela.
In an order dated and released on Monday, the Comelec’s First Division lifted the May 12 suspension order against Respicio.
“After due deliberation and in consonance with the thrust of the Government to deliver basic and vital services, but without prejudice to the resolution of this matter on the merits, the Order of the Commission (First Division) dated 12 May 2025, insofar as the Respondent Jeryll Harold Paz Respicio is concerned, is hereby LIFTED, effective immediately,” the document reads.
Comelec also directed the Reina Mercedes municipal board of canvassers to reconvene within five days from the receipt of the order in line with the proclamation of Respicio.
Based on reports, Respicio is a staunch critic of the Comelec’s automated election system.
Before Comelec ordered the suspension of his proclamation, Respicio faced a disqualification case filed by the Comelec’s Task Force Katotohanan, Katapatan, at Katarungan (KKK) sa Halalan for posting videos online wherein he claimed Comelec’s automated counting machines could be hacked to send fake election results.
