MANILA, Philippines — Severe Tropical Storm Emong (international name: Co-May) further weakened into a tropical storm on Friday since making landfall in Candon City, Ilocos Sur earlier in the day, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa).

But Batanes and the Babuyan Islands are still under Signal No. 2, while Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and mainland Cagayan are still under Signal No. 1.
