Comelec logs over 600,000 on first three days of the registration

MANILA, Philippines — The first three days of the voters’ registration of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections logged over 617,000 voter registrants.

The figure provided by Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia to the media on Monday showed that a total of 617,599 individuals registered as voters from the first to the third day of the registration period.

Of this figure, Central Luzon recorded the highest number of voter registrants so far with 120,817. This is followed by Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) with 74,677 registrants.

Meanwhile, the Cordillera Administrative Region tallied the least number of registrants for the first three days of registration period with only 9,491 applications.

The third day of the registration saw the highest turnout in a day with 248,999 voter registrants with Central Luzon garnering the highest figure at 65,390 applications.

The Comelec has set the voters’ registration period across the country from August 1 to August 10, 2025. The poll body also launched the Special Register Anywhere Program in several areas in Metro Manila from August 1 to August 7, 2025.

The Comelec accepts the following applications:

  • Registration
  • Change of name and status
  • Correction of entries
  • Reactivation of registration records
  • Inclusion of registration records and reinstatement of name in the list of voters
  • Updating of records of Persons With Disabilities (PWD), senior citizens, and members of the indigenous peoples (IPs) and indigenous cultural communities (ICCs)
  • Transfer from overseas to local only

Meanwhile, transfer of local registration records is not allowed during this registration period.

Comelec also said that anyone can bring at least one of the following government-issued IDs:

  • National ID
  • Postal ID
  • PWD ID
  • Student’s ID card of library card (with signature of school authority)
  • Senior Citizen ID
  • Driver’s license or student permit
  • National Bureau of Investigation clearance
  • Philippine passport
  • Social Security System/Government Service Insurance System or Unified Multi-Purpose ID
  • Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID
  • Professional Regulatory Commission License
  • Certificate of Confirmation from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples for members of ICCs and IPs
  • Other government-issued valid IDs

Meanwhile, the Comelec noted that barangay certification or identification, community tax certificates (Cedula), Philippine National Police Clearance and Company ID will not be accepted. /cb
