MANILA, Philippines — The Senate blue ribbon committee, presided by Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson, resumes its hearing on anomalous flood control projects today, Thursday.
Roberto Bernardo, former undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), on Thursday implicated Senator Francis Escudero and former senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Nancy Binay in an alleged scheme involving anomalous flood control projects.
Bernardo made the disclosure in his affidavit during a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on supposed corruption in infrastructure deals.
In the previous hearing last Tuesday, Henry Alcantara, former Bulacan district engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) implicated the following as having participated in getting budget insertions and kickbacks involving certain projects:
Shortly after Alcantara’s revelations, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recommended the filing of charges against them for indirect bribery and malversation of public funds.
